Nokia does it again with the Eco Sensor concept!

It has become a crucial modern day requirement to innovate gadgets that help protect our environment, either directly, by using friendly products in their production, or indirectly, by reducing wastage, emissions etc.

The Nokia Research Center supported by Nokia designers have come up with an innovative new concept, the Nokia Eco Sensor Concept.

The Nokia Eco Sensor concept is a mobile phone and a sensing device. With the device you can be connected to your friends, and to your health and environment as well.

The handset will also enable you to share environmental data with other similar handsets. This sharing of information enables you to gain awareness about the global environment.

All this can be done by simply wearing a sensor unit on the wrist or neck strap, which, powered by solar cells will collect the information and data, such as environment, health, and local weather conditions. Through RFID (radio frequency identification) and NFC (near field communication) technologies, the information will be relayed to the handset.

The phone and the sensor unit will be not only be as compact as possible to minimize material use, but will also use materials that are renewable and/or reclaimed. Technologies used inside the phone and sensor unit will also be energy efficient.

What you can do with the device:

Monitor the Environment:
– Atmospheric gas-level monitor (including carbon monoxide, particulate matter, and ground-level ozone detectors, for example)
– Ultraviolet radiation sensor
– Subscription to environmental catastrophe warning and guidance system

Personal Health:
– Motion detector
– Heart rate monitor
– Noise level monitor

Monitor the weather:
– Air pressure sensor
– Humidity sensor
– Temperature sensor
– Subscription to environmental catastrophe warning and guidance system

The Nokia Eco Sensor Concept aims to reduce, reuse and recycle.
