Today at BlackBerry Jam Asia , RIM announced that the BlackBerry App World application marketplace would be soon renamed as BlackBerry World as the company is gearing up for the launch of BlackBerry 10 on Jan 30 2013 next year.Martyn Mallick, VP of Global Alliances and Business Development at Research In Motion told us that the rebranding had to be done as the App World was offering a lot more than apps now and offers music, video , magazines and a lot more.
Interestingly the company’s annual BlackBerry conference held at Orlando, Florida was known as BlackBerry World till now.So RIM will be soon saying good bye to BlackBerry App World and saying hello to the BlackBerry World storefront.
The re-branding will be rolled out from mid-Jan 2013. This applies to BlackBerry OS 5 ,6,7 phones and BlackBerry Playbook.
