Snapchat rolls out redesigned app that separates Stories of friends from brands

Snapchat today has rolled out a completely redesigned app to better the user experience of an end user just as it promised. The new makeover is organized around your relationships and more personalized. The Flagship Snapchat app has always mixed photos and videos from your friends with brands and publishers. However, with the new design change, Snapchat has finally decided to split both.

Mixing stories of your friends with brands, publishers, and content creators had a side effect in the form of fake news and it felt cluttered. With the new update, though, the feed from your friends and family is kept at one side and the updates and content from brands will be left on the other side, while the home screen will be the camera in the center.

The left side of the app is will the place for chats and photo and video updates from your friends, while the right side will be for searching and consuming content from brands. Snapchat is also changing the day the friend’s list is arranged on the left side. The Best Friends algorithm makes it easier to find the friends you want to talk to and when you want to talk to them. All your friends will be listed in the order that you want to talk to them.

Everyone with a smartphone can create a Snapchat account and how does it identify friends and brands to separate them? well, if an account follows you back, it’s considered a friend and if it doesn’t follow you back, it shows up on the Discover page on the left side. You can personalize the Discover page by subscribing and unsubscribing. The wide roll out of Snpchat new interface is expected in the coming weeks.
