WhatsApp rolls out Status for its web client

WhatsApp launched Status for Android and iOS in February this year. Now, the feature is available for web client of WhatsApp as well. The latest update bumps WhatsApp for Web to version 0.2.5856.

You will now see a new circular icon next to their profile picture on the chat window and the status can be viewed by tapping on it. You will be directed to a different page where you can see contacts who have shared their status. You can view Status from others by clicking on the circular images and even reply to them similar to the mobile app version. Status feature that lets you add photos, videos and emojis to status messages. WhatsApp status disappears after 24 hours.

WhatsApp announced last month that it now has over 1 billion daily active users.  WhatsApp Status is used by 250 million users.
