Apple delays AirPods launch

Apple killed the 3.5mm headphone jack on the iPhone 7 this year. The company had announced AirPods along with the new iPhones last month. Now Apple has said that the AirPods that were going to hit the market this month, will be delayed.

Apple spokesperson said in a statement to Tech Crunch,

The early response to AirPods has been incredible. We don’t believe in shipping a product before it’s ready, and we need a little more time before AirPods are ready for our customers.

The exact reason of the AirPod delay is not known. Airpods are powered by a brand new W1 chip that makes it easier to connect to Apple’s device portfolio. The Airpods also include beam forming microphones located in the bottom half of the earphone. Both in mono and stereo mode, you can tap the side of the earphone and talk to Siri. Each individual Airpod has dual optical sensors on the side that detect your tap. The Apple Earpods with charging case is priced at $159.

Apple MacBook event is scheduled for tonight at 10:00 am PT (10:30 PM IST).  As usual it will offer live stream for iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch users with Safari on iOS 7.0 or later, Mac users with Safari 6.0.5 or later on OS X v10.8.5 or later, or a Windows 10 users with Microsoft Edge. The live stream will also be available for Apple TV (2nd generation or later) users with software 6.2 or later.
