Google iOS app gets faster, support for Accelerated Mobile Pages and more


google iOS appGoogle is beefing up its iOS app with a bunch of new features and improvements. The update that bumps the app to version 15.1 brings speed improvements and support for Accelerated Mobile Pages.

Google says, the app has becomes faster and searches and page loading will become faster. The company claims that the latest improvements will save app users a combined 6.5 million hours this year. Next up, one of the important additions is of the Accelerated Mobile Pages (AMP) to search result. Launched in February to compete with Facebook’s Instant Articles, AMP will load news articles from a large number of publishers instantly. These articles will have a lightning bolt icon and “AMP” next to articles in the “Top Stories” section of search results.

Finally, Google is adding sports cards to its set of Google Now cards. When you get a card with sports highlights, just tap the play button and watch it right from the app.
