Starting on July 29, we will start rolling out Windows 10 to our Windows Insiders. From there, we will start notifying reserved systems in waves, slowly scaling up after July 29th. Each day of the roll-out, we will listen, learn and update the experience for all Windows 10 users.

posted Terry Myerson in a blog.

Windows 10 will be first rolled out to the 5 million Windows Insiders, the group of people who have been testing Windows 10 in advance and giving feedback to Microsoft. User’s who have reserved the Windows 10 update will receive a notification once Microsoft tests the compatibility of their PC and the software has been downloaded. Microsoft will offer Windows 10 as a free upgrade to Windows 7 and Windows 8 and 8.1 users for a year.

Microsoft said that they will give a build of Windows 10 to our OEM partners so they can start imaging new devices with Windows 10. Windows 10 Pro will be available alongside Windows 10 Home on July 29. Volume licensing customers will be able to download Windows 10 Enterprise and Windows 10 Education on starting on August 1. Microsoft revealed that there are now more than 5 million Windows Insiders testing the latest Windows 10 builds, up from the 3.9 million figure shared in mid-May.

Windows 10 is one of the most anticipated new Microsoft releases in years. It will bring back the popular “Start” menu along with the digital assistant Cortana and a new web browser called Edge.
