Elephone set to announce P9000 in October – World’s first deca-core smartphone powered by Mediatek MT6797

Elephone-P9000

Elephone is apparently working on a new phone called the P9000 which is set to become the first smartphone that is powered by a deca-core processor, namely the Mediatek Helios X20 MT6797 and it will be released later this year.

The device will house a 5.5″ 1080p display. It will also have a ARM Mali T800 GPU clocked in at over 800 MHz and have 4GB of RAM. The device will have 32GB of internal memory (expandable upto 128GB), 20.7 Megapixel rear camera (most probably Sony) and an 8 Megapixel front facing camera.

There will be a 3100 mAH battery to power the device but it remains to be seen whether it will be enough to provide good battery life to the device considering the powerful processor. But the deca-core processor is expected to be more efficient in terms of power consumption as well so it might do well. The device should run on Android Lollipop 5.1.1 when it releases in October this year. Another surprising thing is that the phone is expected to be available at a price of US$ 499 upon release which is quite a bargain considering the specifications.
