Facebook Messenger will now provide information about first time senders

Facebook is making it easier for its users to recognize an unknown sender who is messaging for the first time on Facebook Messenger, as per a report from Tech Crunch. The social network is launching the new feature on Messenger that will let you know more about other non-friend users.

With the new feature when a unknown user sends you a message on Messenger for the first time, publicly available information from the senders will be included, to help the receivers understand the context of the messages. The information will include the person’s name, photo, location, and job. It must be noted that, this information must be set to  “public” in order for you to see it.

Facebook said that the new feature is rolling out for iOS and Android users in the US, UK, France and India. Last month, the social network unveiled its Hello app for Android, a caller ID app that also displays a caller’s publicly available Facebook info.
