Google Play now lets users pre-register for upcoming apps

Google has rolled out a new “pre-register” system for apps in Google Play. The new feature will allow users to pre-register for apps and game on the Google Play Store.

Terminator Genisys: Revolution is the first game that includes this feature. The preregistration feature let the game’s developer advertise that the game is coming soon. Once you pre-register for the app or game your Android device will receive a little notification that the item you are interested in is now available. You can also unregister if you decide that you are no longer interested in the app. The app pages for these titles will include a “Pre-register” button where you would normally find the “Buy” button instead.

The new feature will help both consumers and app publishers. It must be noted pre-registration is free for Android customers, and there’s no obligation to download or buy the app once it is live.
