Lenovo today reported $14.1 billion revenue for the financial year that ended December 31, 2014. Since Motorola Mobility is now a part of Lenovo, it announced that Motorola sold over 10 million smartphones in the quarter for the first time. This is a 118% increase compared to the same quarter the previous year. Motorola added US$1.9 billion to the total Mobile Business Group’s revenues that includes products from the Motorola investment, Lenovo-branded mobile phone business, Android tablets and TVs, said Lenovo.

Motorola shipped 6.5 million smartphones globally in Q1 2014, this reportedly increased to 8.6 million in Q2 2014. Motorola and Flipkart jointly announced recently that it sold 3 million smartphones in India in 10 months after entering the market. At that time Motorola GM Amit Boni said that Motorola will co-exist with Lenovo in India, but both will remain independent of each other.

Motorola re-entered the Chinese market last month with Moto X, Moto X Pro and Moto G smartphones and the Moto Hint Bluetooth Earbud. It is also expected to release new budget smartphone soon that is likely to increase the sales this quarter.
