MediaTek has just announced MT6595, the world’s First 4G LTE Octa-Core Smartphone SOC with ARM Cortex-A17 CPU that was announced today. This uses PowerVR Series6 GPU and not the Mali-T720 GPU that was announced along with the Cortex-A17. This has H.265 H.265 Ultra HD (4K2K) video record & playback. It uses ARM’s big.LITTLE architecture along with MediaTek’s CorePilot technology for Heterogeneous Multi-Processing (HMP) that uses all the eight cores.

The MT6595 platform would be commercially available by the first half of 2014 for the OEMs and devices with this chip are expected in the second half of 2014, says MediaTek.
