Google expands availability of Chromecast app beyond US

Google announced their first streaming dongle – Google Chromecast, nearly three months back and it has been available only in the US since then. Finally, Google seems to be expanding Chromecast’s market as it has taken off the demographic restriction off for the Chromecast app in various places like UK, Canada and India.

The Chromecast application is available on Android and iOS and lets you stream content from your smartphone/tablet to your TV to which the Chromecast has been attached. In addition to being able to stream content from smartphones, Chromecast is also capable of streaming content from your laptop or PC.

Chromecast dongle is yet to be available officially outside the US, but removal of demographic restriction of the app could mean that Google is indeed planning to go global with their Chromecast. Amazon offers international shipping for the product and if you are in one of those demographic regions where the app is available, then you might want to check it out. Though the content that you can stream is limited at the time, we are sure that many developers are working to bring streaming to their apps.

Google Chromecast is available in India through Amazon and the Chromecast app is also live in both Play Store and App Store.
