Apple iPhone Duo goes on sale in India: In-store pickups begin

Following the announcement last month and the opening of pre-orders on October 16, retail availability for Apple’s new foldable smartphone, the iPhone Duo, officially commenced in India. Visuals from Apple Saket in Delhi showed early buyers and visitors engaging with the device at display tables, alongside store staff assisting customers with handovers and product demonstrations.

Retail Strategy and In-Store Fulfillment

In a departure from traditional walk-in sales models, Apple implemented an online pickup protocol at its retail locations. Prominent signage displayed at the Delhi store explicitly stated:

iPhone Duo is only available through an online Apple pickup order. Select ‘Pick up at an Apple Store’ at checkout. iPhone Duo is not available for sale in-store.

Prospective customers arriving at the store were directed via on-site QR codes to order through Apple’s online platform before scheduling an in-store handover.

The operational requirement aims to streamline inventory management, mitigate walk-in overcrowding, and fulfill reserved allocations made during the initial pre-booking window.

Despite the online-first checkout rule, live demo units were installed across central store counters, giving visitors access to test the form factor and hinge mechanism firsthand.
