Google Cloud and Imagine Marketing, the parent company of Indian audio and wearables brand boAt, have announced a collaboration to introduce AI-first capabilities across boAt’s upcoming “Crest AI” lineup of smart audio products. Built using Google’s Gemini models, the initiative aims to bring ambient AI computing, natural voice interaction, and productivity tools to mainstream consumer devices in India.
Platform Architecture and Gemini Live Integration
Crest AI serves as boAt’s software foundation for next-generation smart audio hardware, designed to deliver conversational, voice-driven interfaces. By integrating Gemini Live via Google Cloud’s Gemini Enterprise Agent Platform, the devices facilitate fluid, two-way vocal dialogue rather than relying on rigid command-and-response structures.
The underlying cloud infrastructure and multimodal processing support real-time contextual awareness, allowing the devices to process complex queries, retain context across exchanges, and adapt to regional linguistic nuances and dialects across the Indian market.
Key Functional Capabilities
The integration introduces specialized modules designed for communication, information retrieval, and daily productivity:
- Crest Ask: Acts as a contextual conversational layer during daily listening. Users can ask questions, brainstorm ideas, request explanations, and converse casually without needing a screen interface.
- Crest Translate: Delivers real-time, two-way language translation directly through the earbuds, addressing multilingual communication barriers.
- Google Workspace Voice Integration: Connects device audio controls with essential productivity tools. Users can issue voice prompts to manage Google Calendar events, check Google Tasks, or triage emails in Gmail (such as asking the assistant to schedule meetings or draft email responses hands-free).
Market Context and Strategic Focus
The partnership focuses on democratizing generative AI utilities across diverse consumer segments. By running on Google Cloud’s scalable infrastructure, the platform is engineered to handle low-latency processing required for smooth audio interactions while expanding access to localized AI features for boAt’s broad user base in India.
Regarding this, Gaurav Nayyar, CEO of boAt, said:
Our mission at boAt has always been to build something bold and impactful, making cutting-edge technology accessible to everyone. By integrating Google’s Gemini into our Crest AI devices, we are taking a massive leap forward. We are moving beyond basic voice assistants to create intelligent, conversational agents for general voice queries, device control, music playback, productivity, language translation and FAQ support. Partnering with Google Cloud allows us to scale this vision and redefine the future of ambient computing in India and beyond.
Sashi Sreedharan, Managing Director, Google Cloud India, said:
boAt is one of India’s foremost wearable brands, and their push to bring cutting-edge AI to consumers is exactly the kind of innovation we want to support. Voice and vernacular are the next frontier for AI in India, and Gemini Live helps make that possible. With Google Cloud’s infrastructure underpinning them, boAt can scale this to millions of users across India.
