Nothing just launched the Nothing Phone (4b) in the new 4b series that is placed below the 4a series, replacing the 3a Lite. Here we have the first impressions of the smartphone.
Even though there will be a case, the company said that the phone doesn’t come with a charger in the box.
The Nothing Phone (4b) sports a 6.77-inch FHD+ flat AMOLED display with 120Hz refresh rate. The display is bright since it has up to 1200 nits outdoor brightness in HBM and 2000 nits peak brightness, and the sunlight legibility is good as well. There is AGC DT-star 2 glass protection. There is 480Hz PWM dimming.
It has a tiny punchhole that houses the 16-megapixel camera with a Samsung sensor. The earpiece is present on the top edge, and this time the company has added a dedicated secondary speaker. The phone has an in-display optical fingerprint scanner. The bottom bezels are minimal.
The Phone (4b) is powered by a Snapdragon 6 Gen 4 SoC compared to the MediaTek Dimensity 7300 Pro in the 3a Lite. There is also a 20,829 mm² total cooling area with a large 4,400 mm² Vapor Chamber similar to the Nothing Phone 4a.
With a CPU scheduler and Nothing OS optimizations, it promises 15% greater CPU performance, 25% improved GPU performance, and 240% stronger AI performance compared to the 3a Lite. It has 8GB of LPDDR4X RAM and supports 5G SA/NSA with several bands. It runs Android 16 with Nothing OS 4.1 on top, and the company has promised 3 Android updates and 6 years of security updates.
The phone has a power button and the volume rockers on the right side. The essential key is on the left. The dual SIM slot, primary microphone, USB Type-C port, and speaker grill are present on the bottom. The secondary microphone is present on the top along with the speaker vents.
The phone has a dual camera setup that includes a 50MP main camera with a 1/2.76″ sensor and an 8MP ultra-wide camera. Even though the megapixel remains the same, the 3a Lite had a bigger 1/1.57″ sensor. However, the company has added OIS.
It can record videos at 4K resolution at up to 30 fps from the rear camera, and the front camera supports 1080p 60 fps recording. Check out some camera samples.
Nothing continues to challenge conventional slab-phone aesthetics by merging elements from its higher-end devices. The Phone (4b) combines the smooth, high-strength polycarbonate unibody with a newly evolved Glyph Bar. The body is treated with a specialized primer, color coat, and UV top layer designed to aggressively repel fingerprints while offering a soft, skin-friendly texture.
The signature rear LED interface features a grid of 45 mini-LEDs distributed across five squares. It shines up to 40% brighter than previous iterations with zero light leakage, said the company. The device boasts an IP64 rating for dust and water resistance and is certified to be 20% more bend-resistant than the older Phone (3a) Lite.
The phone comes in black, white, and a striking new blue colorway. There is also the Nothing Phone (4b) RCB Edition, developed in partnership with the Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) cricket franchise in a new red color with the RCB logo, wallpapers, and more.
The phone packs a 6000mAh battery, the biggest on a Nothing phone yet, with support for 33W fast charging. The battery capacity stays above 90% even after 1200 charging cycles, says the company.
The Nothing Phone (4b) starts at Rs. 34,999 for the 8GB + 128GB model. It will be available from Flipkart and select offline partners starting from July 14th. With bank and exchange offers, the effective starting price is Rs. 29,999.
