Samsung Galaxy A27 5G with 6.7″ FHD+ 120Hz AMOLED display, Snapdragon 6 Gen 3 announced

Samsung has officially unveiled the Galaxy A27 5G, the latest addition to its mid-range smartphone lineup, after rumors. Serving as the successor to the Galaxy A26 5G, the new device brings a series of iterative updates focused on display design, processing performance, and broader integration of artificial intelligence tools.

Design and Display Refinements

The Galaxy A27 5G features a 6.7-inch Super AMOLED display supporting a 120 Hz refresh rate for smoother scrolling and animations. Notably, Samsung has transitioned the device to an upgraded Infinity-O design, which replaces older notch styles with a smaller punch-hole cutout for the front-facing camera.

Coupled with a more symmetrical and reduced bezel, the design aims to maximize screen real estate. The smartphone maintains a slim profile, measuring 7.8 mm in thickness.

Hardware and Camera Specifications

Under the hood, the device is powered by the Snapdragon® 6 Gen 3 Mobile Platform. According to Samsung, this chipset provides a boost in GPU performance to handle gaming and streaming more efficiently, alongside updated high-speed memory for faster data transfer and improved power consumption.

The camera system sees an upgrade to the front-facing sensor:

  • Front Camera: 12 MP sensor designed to capture wider dynamic range and improved color accuracy across varying lighting conditions.
Expanded “Awesome Intelligence” Ecosystem

A core focus of the Galaxy A27 5G is the democratization of Galaxy AI features, bringing capabilities previously reserved for flagship models to a lower price tier.

  • Circle to Search: Developed in collaboration with Google, the feature now supports multi-object recognition (identifying multiple items in a single frame simultaneously) and includes a virtual try-on tool for apparel.
  • Object Eraser: The native photo editor has been updated for higher precision when removing unwanted elements from images.
  • Voice Transcription: The stock Voice Recorder app can now transcribe and translate audio simultaneously across 22 supported languages.
  • AI Assistant Integration: The device natively supports multiple AI assistants, allowing users to choose between Google Gemini and Perplexity. Additionally, Samsung’s Bixby has been updated to function as a conversational device agent for navigating internal phone settings via natural language.
Software Support and Security

In a bid to extend device longevity, Samsung has committed to providing up to six generations of Android OS and One UI upgrades, alongside six years of security updates from the official launch date.

On the security front, the Galaxy A27 5G is anchored by Samsung Knox, utilizing hardware-backed protection via Knox Vault to isolate and protect sensitive user data from potential software exploits.
