motorola razr fold launched in India starting at Rs. 1,49,999

motorola just launched the razr fold, the company’s first foldable phone in India, as it had promised. It has also launched the FIFA World Cup 26 Collection edition alongside.

Design and Display

The razr fold focuses heavily on durability alongside its slim profile. The folding mechanism relies on a precision-engineered stainless steel teardrop hinge and a titanium inner screen plate to minimize screen creasing and evenly distribute pressure. Notably, it is the first smartphone to feature Corning Gorilla Glass Ceramic 3, which Motorola states provides a 75% improvement in drop performance compared to previous generations.

Component Specification
External Display 6.6-inch
Internal Display 8.1-inch 2K LTPO
Thickness (Open) 4.6mm
Thickness (Closed) 9.9mm
Audio Setup Dolby Atmos, Sound by Bose stereo speakers
Standard Finishes Pantone Blackened Blue, Pantone Lily White

The device’s hinge allows for versatile usage beyond standard open and closed states, including a “laptop mode” for multitasking and a “tent mode” for viewing media or functioning as a hands-free tripod.

FIFA World Cup 26 Collection

In addition to the standard colors, motorola introduced a specialized FIFA World Cup ’26 Collection variant that blends tournament-inspired styling with premium craftsmanship. The back cover incorporates a textured, raised-dot pattern designed to mimic the materials of the game, adding a tactile richness that enhances grip while creating a dynamic visual effect.

This texture is contrasted by a glossy interplay with bold “26” typography, giving the device a distinct, collectible aesthetic. Centered on the design is the official FIFA World Cup 26 logo, crafted from premium materials and finished with 24K gold plating, positioning the smartphone as a commemorative keepsake for fans.

Camera System

Motorola highlighted the device’s imaging capabilities, which have earned high DXOMARK ratings for foldables in North America. The hardware includes a versatile triple-lens rear setup and dual selfie cameras:

  • 50MP Main Sensor: Uses the Sony LYTIA 828 sensor. It supports 8K video recording, cinematic Dolby Vision, and features Pantone Validated color accuracy.
  • 50MP Periscope Telephoto: Utilizes the Sony LYTIA 600 sensor to provide 3x optical zoom, Optical Image Stabilization (OIS), and an AI-powered 100x Super Zoom Pro.
  • 50MP Ultrawide Lens: Offers a 122° field of view and includes built-in Macro Vision for close-up photography up to 3.5cm away.
  • Front-Facing Cameras: A 32MP internal selfie camera (supporting 4K video and Quad Pixel technology) and a 20MP external selfie camera.
Performance, Battery, and AI Integration

The razr fold is powered by the Snapdragon 8 Gen 5 Mobile Platform, paired with up to 16GB of RAM (plus RAM Boost) and up to 512GB of internal storage. Thermal management is handled by an advanced liquid-cooling system to sustain performance during heavy multitasking or gaming. Motorola is promising long-term software support with up to seven Android OS upgrades and seven years of security updates.

Software navigation is heavily integrated with AI. The device features proprietary “moto ai” tools for tasks like notification summarization and real-time conversation transcription, while also offering access to third-party AI platforms like Microsoft Copilot, Google Gemini, and Perplexity AI.

The phone is equipped with a high-capacity 6000mAh silicon-carbon battery. For charging, it supports 80W TurboPower wired charging—capable of delivering 12+ hours of battery life in 12 minutes—alongside 50W TurboPower wireless charging.
