Google introduced Quick Share to Apple AirDrop file sharing for the Pixel 10 family of devices back in November last year. At that time, the company said that it plans to expand the feature to a wider range of Android devices.
Today, the company has now announced that the feature is being made available for the Google Pixel 9 series of phones.
This new interoperability aims to bridge the gap between the two operating systems for users of the company’s flagship hardware. The update allows the specified Pixel devices to discover and transfer files directly to and from AirDrop-enabled devices.
Rollout Details
Google said that the update will not be instantaneous for all users; instead, it will roll out incrementally over the next few days. Users of the Pixel 9, 9 Pro, and 9 Pro Fold should expect to see the functionality become available automatically via a server-side update or through a system software patch.
Based on a recent report, the feature will expand to more Android devices, including non-Pixel models in 2026. We can expect an announcement regarding this at Google I/O 2026 in May.
