vivo has confirmed the global date launch of OriginOS with the OriginOS 6 based on Android 16 launching on October 15th at “Brave New Origin: 2025 vivo OriginOS Global Launch Event,” in Shanghai. This comes after the teaser earlier this week.
Regarding this, vivo’s Senior Vice President & Chief Technology Officer SHI Yujian said that the new OS is designed to provide users with a smoother and smarter mobile experience.
vivo recently confirmed that OriginOS 6 will be unveiled in China on October 10, 2025 at the vivo Developer Conference. The new version is expected to introduce a “Comfort Engineering” design philosophy, aiming for a more natural and intuitive user experience.
Teasers have pointed towards a revamped lock screen with enhanced customization options such as transparent design. Using real-time rendering technology to simulate the refraction and shadows of natural light, the digital clock component intelligently adjusts the contrast based on the lighting, creating a more layered, three-dimensional effect.
Furthermore, a new transparent color palette has been added to the lock screen. Subtly varying the transparency creates a natural drop shadow against the background, allowing the lock screen image to blend more seamlessly with the user interface.
vivo has also revealed AI eraser updates that will also work with Live Photo so that it can also remove passers-by, New AI lighting effects, new shake-to-group sharing feature from the one-to-one “touch-to-share” feature. You can create a sharing group with just a simple shake.
The upcoming vivo X300 series and the iQOO 15 will be the first smartphones to ship with OriginOS 6 out of the box in the Chinese market when these are launched in October, and this will also likely be the case for the global markets as well when the phones are launched globally later this year.
The company will begin registration for the preview program from September 29th.
