Google Search is receiving a new feature that allows users to personalise their search results even further. Users can now choose their preferred sources—whether it’s their favourite sports blog or a local news outlet—so that more of their articles are prominently displayed within Top Stories in regular search results.
How to add preferred sources to Top Stories in Google Search?
To add your preferred sources to Google Search, follow the instructions:
- Search for a topic that’s in the news and click on the icon to the right of Top Stories.
- Search and select your preferred sources.
- Refresh your results and see more from your favorite sites.

Note: Sources that are not updated regularly may be unavailable
After doing this, the Top Stories section in your search results will be more personalized to your liking, showing a dedicated “From your sources” section on the search results page. News or articles from other relevant sources will still be visible, offering a broader view of the search.
Facing fierce competition from AI chatbots that offer real-time web search functionality, Google has been working on ways to improve its search engine, the company’s primary business.
Recently, the company introduced AI Mode, aimed at improving learning and research. This new personalisation feature adds to the company’s efforts to encourage people to stick to their usual way of searching.
