Dolby Laboratories has announced the opening of India’s inaugural Dolby Cinema at City Pride, Kharadi, Pune. This development marks Dolby’s entry into the Indian market with its premium cinema offering.
The newly launched Dolby Cinema at City Pride is a 310-seat auditorium engineered to provide a heightened cinematic experience. It integrates Dolby Vision for visuals and Dolby Atmos for audio. Dolby Vision utilizes a dual 4K laser projection system, aiming to enhance brightness, clarity, and detail for both 2D and 3D content.
Complementing this is Dolby Atmos, designed to deliver immersive sound quality. The overall design of Dolby Cinema aims to minimize distractions and enhance viewer engagement, featuring dynamic lighting, premium seating, unobstructed sight lines, and a curved wall-to-wall-to-ceiling screen.
Pune is the first Indian city to host a Dolby Cinema, with the first film to be screened in this format being “Jurassic World Rebirth,” set for release on July 4.
Dolby states that its Cinema aims to provide an experience where audiences can connect more deeply with the film’s narrative. The company also highlights its content pipeline, noting over 740 theatrical features globally released or confirmed for release in Dolby Vision and Dolby Atmos.
The City Pride, Kharadi, Pune location is the first of six planned Dolby Cinema screens across India. Future locations are slated for LA Cinemas in Trichy, AMB Cinemas in Bengaluru, Allu Cineplex in Hyderabad, EVM Cinemas in Kochi and G Cineplex in Ulikkal.
The Dolby Cinema at City Pride, Kharadi, Pune, will be accessible to the public from July 4, 2025. Tickets are available through BookMyShow, with further offers and previews anticipated.
