WhatsApp gets ‘Chat Filters’ for faster message finding

WhatsApp has introduced a new feature called chat filters, designed to streamline message searches for users.

According to WhatsApp, these filters will categorize your chat list based on various criteria, eliminating the need for tedious scrolling through your entire inbox.

Three Chat Filter Options

The feature comprises three filters conveniently located above the chat list: All, Unread, and Groups. These filters streamline access to specific types of conversations with a single tap:

  • All: Displays all messages in your inbox.
  • Unread: Highlights conversations requiring attention by showing unread or unopened messages, aiding in prioritization.
  • Groups: Gathers all group chats in one location, facilitating easier access to preferred discussions, including subgrouping of Communities.

WhatsApp aims to make finding conversations “quick, seamless, and simple.” The introduction of chat filters aims to complement existing features like text formatting options and message pinning, contributing to an enhanced user experience.

Availability

WhatsApp Chat Filters are currently being rolled out to users, with full availability expected in the coming weeks.

Announcing the new feature, WhatsApp stated:

We believe filters will simplify organization and aid in locating essential conversations, enhancing message navigation efficiency. We’ll keep developing more options to assist you in prioritizing what’s most significant.
