Netflix gets ‘My Netflix’ tab to enhance content discovery

Netflix, the popular streaming platform, is launching a new feature called “My Netflix” in its mobile apps to improve content discovery for users. This tab comes in the wake of Netflix’s global crackdown on password-sharing, including India, which took place last week.

Replacing Downloads Tab

The My Netflix tab will replace the existing “Downloads” tab located in the bottom-right corner of the screen. The purpose of this new feature is to present users with titles they have displayed some interest in, aiding them in making a decision on what to watch.

What My Netflix Offers

The My Netflix will showcase various categories of content, including titles that users have downloaded, recently watched, are currently in progress, saved to their “My List,” and have given a thumbs-up to.

Additionally, trailers previously viewed will also be displayed. However, users can still explore the platform’s full range of series and films by visiting the Home tab and other sections of the app.

Netflix emphasizes that the more users interact with the platform and provide feedback on their preferences, such as saving action-thrillers like “Extraction 2” to “My List” or liking every season of “Bridgerton,” the more personalized content they will see in the My Netflix tab.

Availability

The My Netflix feature is currently available on iOS, starting today. For Android users, it will be rolled out in early August.

On the announcement, Netflix posted:

My Netflix, a one-stop shop tailored to you with easy shortcuts to help you choose what you want to watch. It’s available on iOS and Android globally and includes your downloads, TV series and movies you liked, shows and films saved to My List, trailers you’ve watched, reminders you’ve set, what you’re watching, what you’ve recently watched, and more. The more you interact with Netflix, the more personalized the My Netflix tab becomes.
