Apple said to launch $99 AirPods as early as 2024

Apple’s AirPods TWS earbuds line-up is expected to be refreshed only next year. According to a reputed Apple analyst, Ming Chi Kuo, the next generation of AirPods will likely begin mass shipments in H2 of 2024 or H1 of 2025, meaning the line-up won’t be refreshed this year.

Kuo also revealed the launch of the all-new AirPods Lite and the new generation of AirPods Max during that period. This new report from Kuo is consistent with Jeff Pu’s previous report, which also claimed the upcoming release of a lower-priced pair of AirPods.

The launch of lower-cost AirPods that would probably be priced around US$ 99 (Rs. 8,065 approx.) would diversify Apple’s AirPods portfolio. Do note that the moniker AirPods Lite is just a tentative name. Also, the top-of-the-line AirPods Max will be refreshed after three full years after the launch back in December 2020.

We can expect these products to be announced in the second half of 2024 or the first half of 2025. Nevertheless, the addition of cheaper AirPods to the series should help Apple expand its presence in the TWS earbuds space, which is becoming increasingly competitive.

Apple is expected to concentrate more on the mixed-reality headset, which should happen this year. And so, Apple would have shifted these plans to the end of 2024.
