Snapchat, an instant messaging app, has released a new Dynamic Cricket AR lens that allows snapchatters to create their own IPL match reactions in real time as they snap. For music, the company has collaborated with Spotify.
Snapchat is making this possible with the help of an API-powered dynamic cricket lens that uses Augmented Reality (AR) technology. The API will also dynamically pull in match scores and key match moments right into the lens, so users can make their own match reactions.
During the match, the Snapchat AR lens will be live on Snap and open in the selfie view, showing the match score in real time. This will allow Snapchatters to celebrate important match moments with party effects and upbeat music from Spotify.
This new feature on Snapchat comes as a result of Spotify’s #SpotifyOnTohMazzaOn campaign to celebrate the ongoing IPL season and provides more celebrating options for consumers.
Elaborating on the new lens, Gaurav Jain, Head of APAC Business Expansion, Snap Inc. said,
For Snap’s millennial and Gen-Z audience, AR has become a part of their everyday behavior. With the Dynamic Cricket Lens, we have united music and AR tech to create a unique fun filled experience for our client Spotify. The API powered dynamic Cricket lens is an industry-first and a step forward in our efforts to continually innovate.
