Google could limit WhatsApp unlimited storage for backups

At present, WhatsApp provides the support to back up your data on the cloud on both Android and iOS platforms. For Android users, Google offered unlimited Google Drive storage for WhatsApp backups. Now, Google is planning to make some changes, which could limit storage allocation in the future.

WhatsApp tipster, WABetaInfo has published an image of strings of code that specifically reference Google Drive limits. It could be over the existing 15GB free storage available on Google Drive. However, there is no information about the exact storage limit.

The news comes a few months after WABetaInfo reported about the upcoming feature that would let users manage their WhatsApp backup size on Android. This feature would let users exclude certain file types from being backed up, such as photos, documents, and videos.

A week back, WhatsApp rolled out a new update to the iOS platform, adding numerous features it has been testing for months. The update brings the ability to pause and resume while recording voice messages, which was being tested since October.
