India TWS shipments record 723% YoY growth in Q3 2020: Counterpoint


The truly wireless market in India is an industry that has been growing strongly lately, and in the third quarter of 2020 the growth has reached record levels, with Counterpoint Research reporting a growth of 723% YoY. The top five manufacturers for the quarter in terms of market share were boAt, Xiaomi, realme, JBL, and Apple.

For boAt, their most popular model was the Airdopes 441, thanks to its many features such as water resistance, USB Type-C charging and rated 25 hours of battery life. Xiaomi took second place in terms of market share, and also had the most popular model in the entire market – the Redmi Earbuds 2C.

Realme came in third place in terms of market share and had the 3rd and 4th highest selling models in Q3 2020, namely the Realme Buds Q and the Realme Buds Air Neo. In 4th place was JBL and in 5th place was Apple, whose AirPods (2nd Gen) came in at 5th place.

Commenting on the report, Research Analyst Shilpi Jain said:

Most of the smartphone OEMs now have entered the CIOT segment and are expanding their TWS portfolios across price-tiers to benefit from the huge potential it holds. Increase in ‘stay at home’ activities due to the COVID-19 pandemic have also boosted the demand for TWS. The smartphone OEMs have managed to carve a significant place for themselves in the segment by leveraging their already established brand awareness and sales channels
