Qualcomm Robotics RB5 5G and AI-Enabled platform launched


Qualcomm has announced the launch of their newest 5G and AI-Enabled Robotics Platform called the Robotics RB5. It is the successor to Qualcomm’s Robotics RB3 platform and comprises of extensive set of hardware, software and development tools that include the Qualcomm AI Engine, Qualcomm’s Hexagon Tensor Accelerator and more.

Some of the technical features of the Robotics RB5 platform include the Qualcomm QRB5165 processor, which utilises an Octa Core Qualcomm Kryo 585 CPU and Adreno 650 GPU along with a dedicated, powerful AI engine. The platform is capable of Advanced Imaging Capability, thanks to its Qualcomm Spectra 480 Image Signal Processor (ISP) that can process up to 2 Gigapixels per second.

Other technologies include Qualcomm Secure Processing Unit, support for long-range Wi-Fi and Wi-Fi 6 (802.11ax), Bluetooth 5.1, etc. Products based on the Qualcomm Robotics RB5 platform are expected to be available in the market later in 2020.
