HP OMEN X 2S world’s first dual-screen gaming laptop, new OMEN and Pavilion gaming laptops announced


At the HP Gaming Festival in Beijing, HP announced a range of OMEN and HP Pavilion Gaming laptops which included the world’s first dual-screen gaming laptop OMEN X 2S. It is a first of its kind laptop with liquid metal compound cooled CPU and will go on sale in July 2019.

HP OMEN X 2S is the world’s first dual-screen gaming laptop and comes in either 15-inch 1080p or 4K display options. The second screen is a 6-inch 1080p touchscreen mounted above the keyboard.  The display has a refresh rate of 144Hz and another model with a 240Hz refresh rate is expected to come later this year. The laptop has a 20mm metal chassis and weighs 2.34 kgs.

It is powered by up to a 9th generation Intel Core i9 processor, up to NVIDIA GeForce RTX 2080 graphics, PCIe SSD, RAID 0, and IntelOptane memory with SSD as storage options and 32GB DDR4 RAM. There are three USB 3.1 Type A ports, one ThunderBolt 3 USB Type-C port, one HDMI 2.0 port, a Gigabit Ethernet port and a 3.5mm audio jack.

The OMEN X 2S also comes with the new ‘OMEN Tempest Cooling’ technology which contains 3-sided venting for 5-way airflow and a 12V fan module with a 3-phase motor and fluid dynamic bearings. Users also get the ability to do real-time screen mirroring, monitor the system performance and customize the RGB lighting with the OMEN Command Center.

Alongside the launch of OMEN X 2S, HP also launched the newest versions of the OMEN 15 and OMEN 17laptops and these laptops come with a 20 percent and 18 percent reduction in thickness over previous versions. These laptops also feature ‘OMEN Tempest Cooling’ technology that is present on the OMEN X 2S.

HP also launched the Pavilion Gaming 15 and the new HP Pavilion Gaming 17 laptop. These laptops are powered by up to a 9th generation Intel Core i5/i7 processor, up to NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1660 Ti graphics with Max-Q design.

Pricing and Availablity

OMEN X 2S laptop starts at $2099.99 USD(Rs. 1,47,350 approx.) and will be available by June in the US with the 240Hz option expected to be available in July.

OMEN 15 laptop starts $1049.99 USD(Rs.73,670 approx.) and OMEN 17 laptop starts at $1099.99(Rs. 77,180 approx.). Both these laptops are expected to be available in June.

Pavilion Gaming 17 Laptop starts at $849.99 USD(Rs. 59,640 approx.) and the Pavilion Gaming 15 Laptop starts at $799.99 USD(Rs. 56,130 approx.). Both these laptops are expected to be available in June.
