LG G8 ThinQ Hands On and Photo Gallery


Along with LG V50, the South Korean giant also introduced a smartphone under G series as well. Dubbed as G8 ThinQ, the device carries a similar look as LG V50 5G smartphone. This is the first G series smartphone to sport an OLED display compared to LCD display on earlier models.

On the front, we have 6.1-inch (3120 x 1440 pixels) 19.5:9 FullVision OLED Display with a pretty big notch.

On the right side, the G8 has a power button and SIM slot, and the left side houses a volume rocker button and dedicated Google Assistant button just like LG V50.

The LG G8 comes in two variants in terms of camera — Dual and triple rear camera setup. Notably, the dual camera variant that cuts out the telephoto lens. will be available in some region where V50 5G will be sold. This device is powered by Octa-Core Qualcomm Snapdragon 855 7nm Mobile Platform with Adreno 640 GPU under the hood.

In terms of photography, the LG G8 has triple rear cameras, 16MP 107-degree super wide-angle, 12MP standard and 12MP telephoto with 2x optical zoom. It has 3D ToF front camera that measures the distance between the subject and the camera in millimetres to control the intensity of the background blur up to 256 levels for selfies with more depth. It also offers enhanced security with Hand ID and Face Unlock.

Just like other LG smartphones, it has Boombox Speaker that is now capable of stereo output with new Crystal Sound OLED (CSO) technology that utilizes the phone’s OLED display as an audio amplifier. It has DTS:X, 32-bit Hi-Fi Quad DAC and Master Quality Authenticated (MQA) technology.

A remaining specification like (IP68), MIL-STD 810G certified, Android 9.0 (Pie), and other connectivity options remain the same as LG V50 5G. It is powered by 3,500mAh battery with Qualcomm Quick Charge 3.0. The LG G8 ThinQ comes in Carmine Red, New Aurora Black and New Moroccan Blue colors and will roll out from March. LG has not revealed the pricing yet.
