Netflix had a blockbuster Q2 2017. The popular US based streaming service has crossed 100 million subscribers mark by adding a whopping 5.2 million subscribers in total during the second quarter of this year.

Netflix says it now has 104 million subscribers and more than half of the the subscribers are from outside the US, where Netflix has invested heavily in establishing itself as a global television service. International subscribers were 52.03 million, versus 51.92 million in the US. Revenue increased 32 percent to $2.78 billion from the same quarter last year while net income was $66 million, up about 50 percent from the same period last year.

Netflix wrote in the Q2 letter,

We’re forecasting Q3’17 international net adds of 3.65 million. We are making good progress with our international expansion as improving profitability in our earlier international markets helps fund significant investment in our newer territories. As a result, we expect positive international contribution profit for the full year 2017, at current F/X exchange rates. This would mark the first ever annual contribution profit from our international segment.

Netflix says it premiered 14 new seasons of global original series, 13 original 2 comedy specials, 6 original documentaries, 2 original documentary series, 9 original feature films and 7 seasons of original series for kids.
