Google Drive will now backup your entire computer with Backup and Sync

Backup & Sync

Google Drive will soon be able to backup your entire computer to cloud. The company will start offering a new Backup and Sync app for Mac/PC that will allow users to save all the files and photos from their on their PCs to Google Drive.

At present, Google has separate desktop clients to back up files and images to Drive and Photos, respectively. Starting June 28, Backup and Sync will replace the current Google Drive uploader client, and will also be integrated into the desktop Google Photos uploader. Google says Backup and Sync is primarily intended for consumer users however, it says that business users should stick with the existing Drive app for now.  The enterprise-focused Drive File Stream is still in testing and will be available later this year for all G Suite Basic, Business, Enterprise, Education, and Nonprofit domains.

With the new tool you can select folders on your computer to be backed up on Drive. Users from organisations that allow installation of Drive for Mac/ PC on computers will be able to download and upgrade to Backup and Sync.
