Samsung tipped to launch Vivid Photos with Galaxy S7

It looks like Samsung is going to take a cue from Apple’s Live Photos feature for its upcoming flagship phone. A new report claims that the company will roll out ‘Vivid Photos’ that will be its own take on Live Photos.

Vivid Photos which will work on the same lines of Apple’s Live Photos is still under development, said the report. Samsung is planning to launch this feature along with the Galaxy S7 but it will be released via a software update. According to sources of the report, the company has still not decided on the name of the feature and it could be called as Timeless Photo or Vivid Photo which is a combination between ‘vivid memory’ and ‘photo’.

For those unaware, Live Photos that debuted with the new iPhone 6s allows users to capture 1.5-seconds of video before and after a photo is taken in order to create a GIF like image. While Live Photos support sound, Samsung’s Vivid Photos will not capture sounds, added the report. Finally, these Vivid Photos can be shared to social networks as a GIF image. Besides Live Photos, Samsung is also said to add 3D Touch like feature to the Galaxy S7, which is another feature present on the latest iPhones.
