LG announced the second generation G Flex at the Consumer Electronics Show earlier this year. The South manufacture has showcased the unique device at the on-going Mobile World Congress in Barcelona and we had a chance to take a look at the device.

LG G Flex was first of its kind device with a curved body and curved P-OLED display. Now, the successor of the original G Flex is out and on paper the model seems to be a game changer in this portfolio.

The G Flex 2 carries the same design language that of its predecessor, but the device has gotten better with its principles and is a lot more attractive now.

LG G Flex 2 sports a 5.5-inch P-OLED curved display with a resolution of 1080 x 1920 pixels and accounts to a pixel density of 403ppi. The curved screen looks gorgeous and watching high resolution multi-media content in the landscape mode is bliss. The display is protected a layer of Gorilla Glass 3 and the company claims to have enhanced it further, making it 20% tougher than the normal panel.

Just like the previous edition, the new G Flex also carries the design language of the company’s flagship, the G3. The improved rear control deck has made its way to the G Flex 2 and the good news is that the hump at the back is also gone. The volume rockers have a dotted pattern.

The latest G Flex device is a powerhouse and is capable of delivering great performance. The smartphone packs a punch with its octa-core Snapdragon 810 chipset and Adreno 430 GPU.  There’s 3GB of RAM on 32GB variant that we handled and as one can expect the G Flex 2’s performance was hassle free.

LG G Flex 2 not only comes with a durable front, but it also brings an impressive rear cover. Of course, the back follows the footsteps of the original model, but it now has even better self-healing panel that heals up minor scratches up to 18 times faster. LG says that the scratches will disappear in about 10 seconds at room temperature.

The camera department is led by a 13 megapixel sensor and it features OIS+ optical image stabilization.  There’s a dual-LED two-tone flash built into the rear panel that helps you capture some high quality images during low-light conditions. The snapper also has the ability to work side-by-side with the laser auto focus

LG G Flex 2 has an IR blaster on the top, which can be used to remotely control various devices like TV, air conditioners at your home.

The rear panel on the G Flex 2 is removable, but you can’t the manually replace the 3,000mAh battery. The microSIM and the microSD cards are hot-swappable.  LG will be bundling a 2.6A wall charger in its retail box, which will help you charge the phone a lot quickly and according to the company, you will be able to charge up to 50% in less than 40 minutes.

LG G Flex 2 will hit the shelves across the globe later this month and the smartphone will be up for grabs in platinum silver and flamenco red paint jobs.
