Indian specific invites required to buy OnePlus One in India

OnePlus has revealed that OnePlus One will be sold only via Indian specific invites in the country. This means that like other countries, users will not be able to pre-order the device prior to launch.

The pre-orders of the OnePlus One beings today at 15:00 GMT (08:00 PST, 11:00 EST, 20:30 IST) and it will last only for one hour. OnePlus said that the invite only scheme has been helpful for the company in other launch countries as it allows them to control the inventory, scale the team and support services to grow along with demand. This will help it create an overall better experience for the OnePlus One users in India. OnePlus assured that invites will be available at large and they will not be scarce or impossible to receive.

“We’ll also be working with a local partner for an even easier way to get your hands on the One. In addition, invites will also be available through our forums and social media channels… but more information on that a bit later.”

posted OnePlus on the company forum.

The company concluded saying that the invite system in India “may not stay in place forever”. OnePlus One is expected to hit Indian markets by December 2014.
