Apple iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus pre-orders top 4 million in first 24 hours

Apple iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus that were unveiled last week went on pre-order on September 12th in US, Australia, Canada, France, Germany, Hong Kong, Japan, Puerto Rico and Singapore. Apple just announced that both these smartphones received four million pre-order in the first 24 hours. The iPhone 5 that was released back in September 2012 saw only 2 million pre-orders in the first 24 hours.

Both the iPhone 6 and the iPhone 6 Plus goes on sale this Friday, September 19th in these first set of countries. It would go on sale in 20 countries that includes, Austria, Belgium, Denmark, Finland, Ireland, Isle of Man, Italy, Liechtenstein, Luxembourg, Netherlands, New Zealand, Norway, Portugal, Qatar, Russia, Saudi Arabia, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland, Taiwan, Turkey and United Arab Emirates on September 26th.

Last year’s iPhone 5s and iPhone 5c sold 9 million units in three days after launch, we will know about the combined sales of the iPhone 6 and the iPhone 6 Plus next Monday. The iOS 8 update will roll out on September 17th for the iPhone and iPad, couple of days before the iPhone 6 launch. We can also expect Apple to reveal the number of devices running on iOS 8 next week.
