Airlock Secure your Mac via iPhone

How will you react when you see your Mac is been used by someone, when you went to pay  the bill or to toilet in a coffee shop, yes this will really frustrate you and for corporates it is like peeing on your bosses trousers. So you always have a option to set your Mac to ask you password after little inactivity, but what happens when you forget your own password, the answer is you are fired.

What is it all about?

Airlock is developed my M.H.A. Airlock allows your Mac to lock itself, plain and simple. Using your iPhone or iPod Touch, Bluetooth, Airlock determines whether you’re near your computer. When you leave the room – poof! – your Mac locks itself. “And when you come back?” You guessed it: your Mac unlocks. You can also customize Airlock to perform specific actions as you come and go – have your computer talk to you, log-in or out of iChat, open any App and such.

Setting it up

Download Airlock and install it, see it in System Preference

Switch on bluetooth on both Mac and on iPhone/iPod touch, bang!!! then it is ready up right there to serve your Mac.

Is it any good

Well it depends and one thing to take care, it is certainly completely not safe, as there can be many happenings popping out, what will happen if your iPhone/iPod Touch’s battery die down and your Mac is locked by Airlock, then there is no other option to crack into it, so it is always better to choose to prompt password option. It will certainly kill down all your worries.

It also helps to drain your Macs and iPhone/iPod touch’s battery really faster and it is completely not so accurate nor so fast also, I think it will be surfaced out in next updates.

Asides

Is it recommended ??, well I cannot say no, but many of them can find it really useless but you never know when this can be useful. It is  $7.77 or you can try the demo for 7 hrs before cashing it out. All together if you are not satisfied in the demo period, then its back to just your default’s Mac’s password prompt option.
