Google starts taking orders for Project Ara developer boards


Google announced the Project Ara in 2013, a first modular smartphone that would let users to swap the components easily to upgrade the phone. Earlier in April this year, the company revealed the Modular development kit that would let developers create different modules that will eventually turn up on your own custom Ara phone.

Now, Google has started taking orders for the development board and interested companies, organizations and developers can fill the forms till July 18th. Google will decide a requests based on technical experience and the strength of module concept. The dev board hardware that contains the circuitry which is needed to evaluate how their modules will interact with the rest of the Ara system. The company will start shipping in late July.

Google showed of Project Ara prototype at the I/O conference last month and launched a developer challenge. Also, a CNET report claimed in April that Google will launch the first modular phone will come in January 2015.
