on January 31, 2011 – 4:37 pm11 Comments

FoneArena had a special guest today ! LG Optimus 2X -  The World’s First Dual Core Phone just arrived at our doorstep and we decided to shoot some pictures and a video for your viewing pleasure.

The handset is powered by a Nvidia Tegra2 dual core processor , yes dual core.  It has a 4 inch capacitive touchscreen which looks pretty impressive

Check out the video below where we unbox the device and also take a look at the browser and camera !

In the video it’s mentioned 1080i . its actually 1080p

It has a 8 MP Camera with Flash and record video in 1920×1080 format. It’s the world’s first phone to achieve this !

It has a HDMI port on the top which supports mirroring

2 really loud speakers at the bottom with the microUSB port in the middle

Volume keys on the right

LG has customized the UI let you view all the homescreens in one screen (HTC Sense Inspired ? )

And this the best benchmark you would ever see on a Android phone atleast today.

The phone runs on Android 2.2 but is getting an upgrade to 2.3

More coverage coming up soon on FoneArena , we are going to put this handset against the Nokia N8 and iPhone 4.

First impressions about the phone is that it is noticeably faster than any android device we have played with so far. The browser loads pages really fast. The menu operations don’t have any lag.Although the handset is a bit plasticky , it does not feel cheap. We would have appreciated a complete metallic back panel instead of the small stretch in the middle.

Video recording at 1080p is something we are trying on a phone for the first time and we are totally excited about it.8 MP Camera for photos is cool but no camera key.

The display is frankly awesome to look at and use. The touch seems similar to the one we find on the iPhone 4. IPS technology perhaps ?

And before you ask about where you can get this phone ? It’s about to go on sale in many countries soon. We got hold of an review unit from LG Mobile.

OMG the benchmark score is mind blowing and this is just stock rom, its gonna break many barriers with custom roms.

Hey varun, dont you think the dual core processor is being wasted over here?not many new features added to it also. The only use of the dual core will be to play back the full HD videos recorded i presume.Did you notice anything else in the device which requires a dual core?Motorola Atria has a reason to have a dual core as it loads up a whole new motorola made OS into a monitor its connected.

I do feel Android Froyo might not be optimized for Dual Core phones , but the device , it’s pretty fast .

No,its not wasted. It’s not the OS requirement but when u put into it–
      1) HDMI Mirroring{this thins is unbelievable,real time}
      2) A full 1080 video playback & capture
      3) Nvidia’s own Tegra zone for games like dungeon defenders & more will be launched specifically for Dual Core Nvidia

U know what’s happening here, all those things require a dual core power.

Also the LG Optimus 2X has the best multitouch touchscreen i have ever seen, this monster can recognize more than 10 finger{yes that’s right} touch at the same time.

Awesome……love it. Nice phone. When it will arrive in india and what will be the cost.

    Motorola Atrix is better…

    540 x 960 pixels
    Biometric fingerprint reader (cool)
    1 GB Ram..
    better connectivity so on…..
2X has one thing in favour video recording 1080p…Atrix might get that also with update..

the most impressive things for me in this phone are its multimedia features, HDMI, the video recording and the processor.
do you know in what range the price is in?
looking forward to see the comparatives with the iPhone and N8
