Amazon Global Store goes live in India

Amazon has launched Global Store in India that lets customers buy for products form across the globe. The platform, according to Amazon will assist customers in buying the products and clearing customs on behalf.

Products in the Global Store will be marked with a badge that will make it easy to differentiate them. Currently, the Amazon Global Store offers a large number of products under categories like Clothing and Accessories, Watches, Shoes, Books, Electronics and Accessories, Home and Kitchen, Sports and Fitness and Office Supplies. The Global Store products will typically arrive in 10-15 days and the platform will manage aspects of global shipping and delivery complexities, while providing end-to-end visibility with door-to-door tracking status and notifications of all orders. Customers can pay for items sold through Global Store in their local currency. They can purchase Global Store products through all electronic payment methods (Credit/Debit Cards and Net Banking).

Prices for Global Store products are comparable to the prices on the Amazon.com, taking into account the latest exchange rate. Global Store items will have the pricing including the product price, Import Fees Deposit and shipping costs. When you purchase items being shipped from the USA through Global Store, Amazon’s designated carriers deliver the item to your delivery address. Due to government regulations, the carriers are required to collect your ID proof before they can deliver the items to you.

Amazon said it will collect the Import Fees Deposit at the time of purchase and help manage the customs process from there. The product price is inclusive of the Import Fees Deposit which are paid up front. If the actual Import Fees are less than the Import Fees Deposit collected by the company on your behalf, you will automatically be refunded the difference to the payment method you used for the order.
