Airtel Broadband Internet Down

Airtel Broadband Internet is down in Chennai for an extended time since today morning ! Looks like lots of my friends are also facing the same problem. It is crazy when Internet goes down and you are not even informed of the issue by the Service Provider. And even calls to the Airtel Customer Care number 121 did not go through.

UPDATE 1: Finally called Customer Care and spoke to a Human Being who admitted a issue in Airtel’s Gateway and estimated time of the problem getting resolved now stands at 7pm.

UPDATE 2 : Internet started working at 8pm but was patchy till 11pm . It has been normal since then.

Airtel’s Broadband services Quality of Service is getting worse day my day and the speeds are not that reliable as it used to be.

Wish they first checked if their infrastructure was in place before giving free 2MBPS upgrade to all users for Youtube

And ironically Airtel Mobile Office GPRS service works fine !

    yup.. the airtel internet connection was down today since 1 pm afternoon. it was even more frustrating when even the 121 was not reachable. wonder what Airtel is up to!

    Very frustrating day with Airtel. Almost the the whole day of entire office staff is unproductive because of the outage.

    Guess the service is still not fully up. I’m able to open a page by F5-ing it continuously. Calls to 121 are not going thru. Is there an Airtel status page like Google status or 37 signals status pages?

    My Mobile Office service is giving “no gateway reply” frequently from few days. I m fed up with this.

    guys.. i believe that its a DNS issue. coz i am not able to open pages with the website adds but i am able to open the sites with the websites ip. LOL! wish airtel fixes its issue soon. i am sending this from my mobile device.

    I was expected that this would be a small glitch and would be over in few minutes. When the customer service agent told me that my outage compliant would be resolved within 24 hours, I really got paranoid. I am glad that it was resolved before we start another day. This kind of SLA must to change in order to hold customers.

    Well to me it looked like a DNS issue. It seemed to mitigate the issue if I changed the DNS server to either openDNS 208.67.222.222, 208.67.220.220 or Google’s 8.8.8.8, 8.8.4.4 Airtel hasn’t announced or admitted to a problem yet.

    It is really pathetic that Airtel’s broadband went down once again. This is not something unusual given its poor service and lackadaisical attitude of its employees. I hope they will show up their character next time, otherwise, user will have no other option to move on to their broadband provider.

    I am from Indore, MadhyaPradesh, We also use Airtel connection for running our exam center. We are not able to access the exam website http://www.prometric.com using airtel connection and it is working fine with Reliance connections.

    We tried contacting prometric help desk and they report that this is a probelem with Airtel Only.

    Is somebody also facing this problem

    Out of all the Broadband service providers Airtel comes last in performance,customer response,poor billing,headstrong staff working in airtel centres.
    Nothing seems to work for airtel.
    This is my personal experience and due to the above mentioned problems i migrated to BSNL which is a govt owned but atleast they respond promptly and are slow to sort out the issues once a complaint is lodged with them.
    FONE bloggers can share the perfomance of other service providers in india.
