Periscope update adds improved discovery and simplified blocking

Periscope is getting another update for its iOS app only a week after it received its first update. The popular live streaming app  that was launched by Twitter last month is making it easy for users to discover new streams and block unwanted users.

Twitter Periscope

First up, Periscope has introduced a new Global section that presents the most recent live broadcasts from around the world. The app’s home feed now shows only live broadcasts from accounts you follow and replays that are tailored to you. Prior to the update, the app broadcasted all types of content in a single stream. Next up, the app  is getting a new Follower Only mode that gives users the ability to limits a broadcast to comments from people that user follows. It also lets you block users more easily by tapping on a comment to access the option to block the corresponding user. Both improvements serve to reduce spam in the app and ward off unwanted users.

The update gives a user more control over its followers and allow to block people from a stream, whether or not you are the broadcaster. You will just tap their name and get the option either to block them or go directly to their Periscope profile. Finally, other features include the Twitter Verified badges for verified users, and “major scrolling performance improvements”, providing a noticeable improvement over the previous version.
