HTC introduced the HTC RE, a GoPro-like action camera at the Double Exposure event in the US back in October. It was launched in India few days after the US event at a price tag of Rs. 9,990. At the launch HTC said that it would be available in India early November, but the product finally went on sale in India earlier this week on Snapdeal. We managed to get one from the US before it went on sale in India. Check out the unboxing.

The HTC RE has a 16 megapixel sensor with a 146 degree wide-angle lens. The is only one button below the lens. It is capable of recording full HD video and 120 fps slow motion video at 720p.

It has a plastic body, but it is completely waterproof body with IP57 rating. It has both Android and iOS apps. It has Bluetooth 4.0, WiFi 802.11a/b/g/n and Wi-Fi Direct. It has an LED indicator on the shiny part on the back that flashes red when you take a picture, stays on while recording a video, and flashes blue when you record a slow motion video.

On the bottom there is a tripod mount that fits on any tripod and a micro USB slot for charging it. There is a microSD card slot as well under the protective flap. There is a 820mAh in-built battery that lets you continuously record about 1 hour and 50 minutes of 1080p video or click 1,200 16MP photos on a single charge.

It has a grip sensor that instantly turns on the device when it is picked up. The HTC RE weight just 66.5 grams, 26.5 mm in diameter and 97.7 mm in height so that you can carry it easily in your pocket.
