Epson releases Print Enabler app for printing on Android KiKat devices

Epson has announced Android KitKat 4.4 support for native printing by launching an app. Dubbed as Epson Print Enabler, the app will allow users to print documents wirelessly via their smartphone.

epson printingUsers can choose to print directly from Chrome, Drive, Gallery, Gmail, Photos, Quickoffice and more. Prior to this, a separate printing app had to be downloaded to print these documents. The app is available for free on the Google Play Store.

Also, now any Android developer can now incorporate Android Printing using standardized “APIs to add printing capabilities to their apps with minimal code changes”.  Users will be able to discover available printers, change papers sizes and choose specific pages to print.

Epson says more than 60 new and legacy Epson Connect-enabled printers are compatible with the plugin, including some that were released as far back as 2008. Last year, Epson had launched mobile printing support for Amazon Kindle Fire tablets. HP and a few other competitors have already released similar apps to enable printing for their own brands.

You can download the Epson Print Enabler app from the Google Play Store.
