Google is ending Safety Signal support for Pixel Watch 2 and 3 LTE

Google has announced that it will discontinue Safety Signal, a Google Health Premium subscription service that provides LTE connectivity for safety features on supported Pixel Watch models without a standalone carrier plan.

The service allows users to access safety features when they are away from their phones and do not have a carrier plan on their watches. These features include:

  • Calls to and from emergency contacts
  • Safety Check
  • Emergency Sharing
  • Emergency SOS
  • Fall Detection

However, Safety Signal is unavailable when a watch already has carrier service, as the carrier provides the connectivity needed for emergency calls.

The change affects the following LTE-enabled models:

  • Google Pixel Watch 2 (LTE)
  • Google Pixel Watch 3 (LTE)

Existing Safety Signal users will receive advance notice through email and push notifications. They can continue accessing the service’s features without a standalone carrier plan during a 30-day transition period from the date of the email notification.

Other safety features will continue to work when the watch is connected to Wi-Fi, paired via Bluetooth with a nearby phone, or connected to an active cellular line through a carrier.

To maintain cellular connectivity and access to these features when away from their phones, users can set up a mobile plan or eSIM through a supported carrier, according to the Google Pixel Watch Team.

End Date and Availability

Google will end Safety Signal on December 12, 2026. The service is available in the United States, Canada, the United Kingdom and Germany, with roaming support between the US and Canada and between the UK and Germany.
