Red Magic has released teaser for its upcoming flagship, the Red Magic 12 Pro+, ahead of its scheduled October 15 launch. According to announcements shared via the brand’s official Weibo account and General Manager Jiang Chao, the device will introduce what the company describes as the industry’s first RGB water-cooled thermal management system in a smartphone.
Dual-Ring Thermal Architecture
The cooling system inside the Red Magic 12 Pro+ incorporates a dual-ring circulation layout that expands flow-channel volume and surface area compared to the previous Red Magic 11 Pro+. Driven by an internal micro-pump, the coolant splits into two primary paths:
- An upper channel dedicated to cooling the System-on-a-Chip (SoC).
- A lower channel routed to dissipate heat from the battery module.
The two circulation paths converge before extending into the airflow chamber, where an integrated cooling fan expels the heat externally to achieve hybrid air-and-liquid thermal dissipation.
To support the expanded channel capacity and higher resistance, Red Magic upgraded the pump hardware to a dual-crystal driven micro-pump. The unit delivers an operating output pressure of 130 kPa—up from 100 kPa on the prior generation—increasing coolant velocity across the system. The heat-transfer medium remains a non-conductive, insulating fluorinated fluid identical to the type utilized in AI server racks.
In tandem with the internal mechanics, the phone implements a custom light-guide process positioned over the airflow duct. This allows RGB illumination to track visibly along the circulation route, providing visual feedback of the active cooling loop.
Design Changes and Hardware Specifications
Alongside thermal adjustments, Red Magic outlined several ergonomic and physical design refinements for the 12 Pro+:
- Form Factor: Red Magic states the chassis has been redesigned to be thinner and lighter, with more pronounced corner rounding to alter in-hand feel.
- Bezel Dimensions: Front display bezels have been narrowed from 1.25 mm down to 0.96 mm.
- Core Processing: The flagship is powered by Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 8 Elite Extreme Gen 6 platform.
Official launch details, configuration tiers, and pricing are slated to be revealed during Red Magic’s product launch event on October 15.
