vivo has officially set September 21 as the launch date for its upcoming X500 series smartphones, making the announcement during its vivo Creator Festival.
Teaser silhouettes shown at the event indicate the lineup will retain the prominent circular rear camera housing seen on preceding generations, while introducing substantial hardware and processing updates focused on professional imaging.
Imaging Upgrades and Video Capabilities
According to technical details shared at the event and prior industry reports, the X500 lineup debuts several imaging hardware milestones. The series will be the first to incorporate the new Blueprint 900 image sensor and will introduce CIPA 7.0 standard optical image stabilization across both its primary and periscope telephoto cameras. The camera stack is further augmented by an upgraded AI photography assistant to aid scene processing.
For videography, the X500 series targets cinema-grade specifications:
- Dynamic Range: Reaches up to 17EV of dynamic range.
- Color Standards: Incorporates 10-bit 4:2:2 encoding and integrates the ACES (Academy Color Encoding System) standard.
- Log Recording: Leverages an upcoming 2nm MediaTek Dimensity platform to power dedicated hardware-level Log processing, enabling direct recording and output of 4K video at 120fps in 10-bit Log.
- Live Streaming: Features native 8K Live direct output, with platform-level support planned for 8K streaming uploads.
