Google has launched new voice capabilities in Gmail, Google Docs, and Google Keep, powered by Gemini Audio models. The features let users search their inbox, develop documents, and turn spoken thoughts into structured notes through real-time conversations.
Google previously previewed Gemini Audio models in Workspace at I/O. The new capabilities are now rolling out across Gmail, Docs, and Keep.
Gmail Live
Gmail Live adds conversational search to the inbox. Users can ask questions such as “What’s my flight’s gate number?” or “What’s going on at my kid’s school this week?” and Gmail Live will scan the inbox to provide answers.
This allows users to find information from their emails by asking questions rather than manually searching through individual threads.
Docs Live
Docs Live provides a hands-free conversational experience in Google Docs. Users can talk through an idea while the feature builds a structured, context-aware document in real time.
It can help users:
- Organize their thoughts
- Structure a document
- Work toward a first draft
- Outline content and refine its tone
With permission, Docs Live can also pull relevant details from:
- Gmail
- Drive
- Chat
- The broader web
Keep Live
Keep Live lets users capture, structure, and refine ideas using voice. Users can give a “brain dump” or speak through their thoughts, and the feature processes the stream of consciousness in the background.
The spoken input is turned into structured lists and notes, allowing users to capture and organize information without typing.
Availability
The new conversational features are rolling out this week:
- Gmail Live and Keep Live: Available to Google AI Plus, Pro, and Ultra subscribers
- Docs Live: Available to Google AI Pro and Ultra subscribers
- Google Workspace business customers: Coming soon
