Sony India has launched the RX10 V, the fifth-generation model in its RX10 series of all-in-one cameras. It combines a 1.0-type stacked Exmor RS CMOS sensor with approximately 20.1 effective megapixels, a ZEISS Vario-Sonnar T* 24-600mm F2.4-4.0 lens with 25x optical zoom, and an AI processing unit.
The integrated lens offers optical image stabilisation and supports macro shooting from approximately 3cm at 24mm and tele-macro shooting from approximately 72cm at 600mm. The 1.0-type sensor and large-aperture lens also support background blur.

- Shadow-area lifting in strong backlight at higher DRO settings
The BIONZ XR image processing engine reduces noise at mid-to-high ISO sensitivities, including in indoor and low-light conditions. The camera also supports 12 Creative Look presets with customisation options, while the updated D-Range Optimizer balances bright highlights and dark areas and can lift shadow areas in strong backlight at higher settings.
The AI processing unit powers Real-time Recognition AF for humans, animals, birds, insects, cars, trains and airplanes. It also supports Auto subject recognition, human pose estimation when subjects face away or have faces obscured by helmets or sunglasses, and touch-activated Real-time Tracking.
For shooting, the camera performs AF/AE calculations at up to 60 times per second and supports blackout-free continuous shooting at up to 30fps with full AF/AE tracking. The Continuous Shooting Speed Boost function allows the burst speed to be changed during shooting.

The camera has a 0.5-type Quad-VGA OLED electronic viewfinder with approximately 3.68 million dots and approximately 0.78x magnification, along with a 3.0-type LCD monitor with approximately 1.62 million dots. Its button layout and grip follow Sony’s α mirrorless camera design philosophy, while a multi-selector supports eight-direction operation.
The NP-FZ100 rechargeable battery supports up to approximately 630 still images, an improvement of approximately 50% or more compared with the previous model. The RX10 V also has a dust- and moisture-resistant design and supports 2.4GHz and 5GHz Wi-Fi for data transfer.
USB Type-C connectivity provides high-speed data transfer and supports 4K 30p live streaming. Sony’s Creators’ App lets users connect the camera to a smartphone, transfer files to the smartphone or cloud, remotely control the camera, and update features and software.
